A child needs stimulation to develop physically and emotionally. This stimulation can be provided by toys. Different types of toys like institution toys, motor toys (in Danish motorisk legetj),etc helps in skill building and encourages the child to take up challenges. When a child is able to achieve a particular milestone he or she feels elated which leads to development of the mind and body. Parents should choose toys which they know that will make their children enjoy and at the same time harness their potential. There are different types of skills that a child has to develop from an early age. These important skills are motor skills, verbal and aural recognition skills, problem solving skills etc.
Another important thing that parents should keep in mind, while buying toys is that they should buy age appropriate toys for their children. Educational games and toys are usually labeled with the recommended age for playing those and introducing your child to such toys at an early age will be very beneficial for him or her. There are even toys for babies which show that learning should begin very early.
The effective way of educating is to engage children in fun and which as a medium tends to develop new skills in the child apart from the conventional numbers and letters. When it is fun naturally educational toys form the chunk of classroom supplies and the factors which ultimately determine their usage will be age, the non detrimental nature of the toy, the parental guidance and the educative factor connected with it. Parents play a major role in coordinating the right type of educational toy for the children as the learning process differs from every age group to other and toys and the learning skills are not something which should be forced for results. The capability of the child and the adaptability of a particular toy for the child should be the deciding factor than what has been preferred by the parents.
Manufacturing companies have become aware of the difficulty and they are now emphasizing educational toy ranges which come in specific groups like 3-5,5-7,7-9 and above so that the parents shall chose that one which is apt for their offspring. Pre-school toys need to be brightly colored and too odd and large so that the child makes voluntary moves to place them right and in the process develop their skills.
