Infants, Toddlers and Children – Do They Really Need Educational Toys?
This is a million dollar question. The answer to this is both yes and no. There are millions of poor people out there who’s children do not have the luxury of toys, for starters they are expensive and most parents would rather feed their child when it comes to the crunch. As guilty as a parent may feel when choosing food over toys for their offspring – it is the right choice as food feeds the mind in a more practical way than any toy on the market.
Most middle class children are born with a huge toy collection, many of these toys are just for fun, while some are of educational value a parent may find the child prefers the box the educational toy came in.
Educational Toys Make Learning New Skills Fun
Toys are not just for fun, if you choose the right educational toys your child can learn while they play. You just need to make sure that you match the toy to their age and skill level. Here are some ideas for great learning toys for young children.
1. Shapes and a cube
This toy is popular with most toddlers and requires them to slot different shapes into a matching hole on a wooden or plastic cube. They are brightly coloured and fun to play with. This toy will help your children to learn shapes and colours, but it also requires hand-eye co-ordination to be able to slot the shapes into the cube. It can take a lot of patience to get this right when your mind is still young so this toy will help your children to learn how to focus.
2. Jigsaw puzzles
