An iPad might not seem like an essential tool for a home theatre system, yet it can be a really cool addition. Apps will allow you to turn your iPad into a giant remote that controls pretty much anything – this is a pricy solution, yet it is incredibly cool and if you want to make a splash why not consider it? And of course you can still use the iPad for all its other cool features.
Beyond these tools you need to get the basics and make sure you do them well. You don’t need a flashy TV, yet you need a good solid model that won’t let you down. The same goes for sound as you want something that packs a punch and will give you surround sound for films.
Finally, be sure to get a great couch. This might seem silly but there’s no point having an amazing home theatre if you’re not comfortable in it – splash out here as a good couch really makes a difference.
